[In progress] Case: Feasibility analysis of Laneway development project in Oslo

(est.) Oct/Nov. 2025

This report evaluates the feasability, costs, and benefits of developing fine-grained pedestrian alleyways and mixed-use “smug” districts in Oslo, drawing lessons from Japanese shotengai and Melbourne’s laneways. The analysis provides a 15-year cost model, quantifies expected social and economic impacts under Oslo-specific conditions, and outlines a regulatory and implementation pathway. The findings are intended to inform Oslo’s City Government (Byråd for Byutvikling and Bymiljøetaten) on whether to proceed with a laneways program, and under what conditions.

Evaluating the Predictive Power of Expected Threat (xT) in Youth Football

Apr. 2021

This paper tests an hypothesis stating that Expected Threat (xT) is a predictor of results in youth football. The event-based data used in this analysis was collected manually by the author, as event data from Norwegian youth football matches are hard to come by. The paper shows with statistical methods that xT is statistically significant in youth football. As it is a predictor for team performance, it can also be a useful metric for coaches and analysts, as it may play into strategy and tactics.
